A video-game media site in five languages, written by an automated pipeline: more than 51,000 articles on WordPress
Players For Life covers video-game, film and esports news in English, French, German, Spanish and Swedish. An automated production pipeline writes, files and publishes on WordPress, under the bylines of 25 writer personas: one team per language.

The starting point
A news site lives on volume and regularity. By hand, keeping up several articles a day across nine sections takes a whole newsroom, and it would take one per language.
What we did
A production pipeline
Topics are spotted, written and adapted into each language, filed in their section and published on WordPress with no manual step for each article.
One team of personas per language
Each language has its own bylines, with local names: six in English, four in French, five in German, Spanish and Swedish. They are not journalists but personas the pipeline brings to life, and they give the site a local face in every market.
A steady pace
Publishing is spread over the day at fixed intervals, so the site stays alive at any hour.
What it changes
- A publishing volume out of reach for a small team, at a reduced writing cost.
- Five markets served in their own language, with local bylines, without hiring five newsrooms.

Limits and next steps
- Articles go out without human review. The model suits entertainment news, not a subject where a mistake has consequences, such as health, finance or law.
