What it is

Matomo is an open-source web analytics tool released under the GPL. It does most of what Google Analytics does (page views, traffic sources, goals reached, reports), but it installs on your own server: your visitors’ data goes to no one. Configured to the French data protection authority’s (CNIL) conditions, it can even measure audience in France without asking visitors for consent.

Why we chose it

Your data stays with you

Visits are recorded on your server, not with a provider that uses them for its advertising.

More complete figures

Configured to the CNIL’s conditions, it measures without consent in France: visitors who refuse cookies no longer vanish from your figures.

Reports you can read

Pages, sources and goals reached in one dashboard, and a report sent every week if you want one.

How we use it ourselves

  • Matomo runs on our server, alongside Twenty, n8n and Ollama, among a dozen services we operate.

How we install it for you

  1. Install

Matomo installed on your server, in your name, with its access rights and backups.

  2. Configure

The CNIL’s conditions applied one by one, and the list handed over to keep in case of an audit.

  3. Goals

What matters to you becomes a tracked goal: a contact request, a sign-up, a purchase.

  4. Report

A readable dashboard and, if you want one, a report sent every week.

Frequently asked questions

Does Matomo replace Google Analytics?

For web analytics, yes: page views, sources, goals and reports. To tie your Google Ads campaigns to your sales, Google Analytics remains more integrated; we tell you which one to keep for your use.

Can we really drop the cookie banner?

For audience measurement alone, configured to the CNIL’s conditions and in France, yes. As soon as you add advertising or a third-party tool, consent is needed again.

Who handles the updates?

We do, if you take our managed service for your self-hosted tools; otherwise your team, with the documentation we hand over.
